This math course is based on the student’s unique learning style, needs, and abilities.  There will be a focus on mental math, basic operations of math (addition/subtraction, multiplication/division), and solving word problems.  Evaluation will include the day-to-day assessment of class assignments and the student’s effort and skill in completion of assignments, homework, tests, and a final assignment/exam. 

Learning Strategies is a course that will assist students in gaining useful and transferable skills and strategies that will enhance and increase their school involvement and support their efforts towards being successful in other course/subject areas. Students will work towards becoming more effective and independent learners.  Students will be encouraged to become actively involved in their learning.  

A Learning Strategies classroom recognizes and respects diversity, promotes respect and equality, and encourages risk taking in a safe and supported environment to help move students forward both academically and socially.
